Authorities say a police officer shot and killed a man who was shooting at neighboring homes in a Casper residential area.

Casper Police Chief Jim Wetzel said police were called about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday with a report of shots being fired.

Wetzel says the man continued to shoot after police arrived.

He says an officer from the nearby community of Mills fired two shots that killed the man.

Wetzel says no one else was seriously hurt, but a resident of one home received cuts from broken glass.

Wetzel declined to discuss a motive for the shooting, but a neighbor says the man recently lost his job with an oil field service company.

The investigation of the incident is being handled by the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation.
