CASPER, Wyo. (AP) – A Wyoming lawmaker wants the state to issue a new license plate that would fund efforts to prevent vehicle-animal collisions.
Democratic Rep. Stan Blake of Green River says the wildlife plate would cost $100 for those who want it.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports the proceeds would fund overpasses, underpasses, fencing and signs along wildlife migration corridors.
Bill Panos, director of the state transportation department, has said that animal-related collisions account for one in 15 fatal auto crashes in Wyoming.
The Legislative Service Office estimates the bill could generate $50,000 for wildlife conservation efforts over the next three years.
